Banjo
Tom & Donna
Banjo finally left the Caribbean after 7 great years. We were both very sad to leave until we got to the Bahamas. "It's better in the Bahamas" is an apt description. The only flaw to paradise is too many sharks but I guess we'll get used to them. Banjo is in Cocoa, FL for 2 weeks while we travel to visit family. Then we'll transit the ICW to the Chesapeake Bay, staying there until October. We're planning a side trip to the San Juan Islands & Seattle this summer. Winter will take us back to Florida & the Bahamas with another side trip to Bonaire in January to visit our island friends & dive, dive, dive.  june 03

Camryka
Carl, Mary and Mandy

We are still in the Dulce, Guatemala, having lolled along like a marble in a basin to get here. Just got back from helping Jim and Francie bring GALADRIEL back across Atlantic from Med. Thinking about braving easting in CAMRYKA to do some of the best parts again.
( c4lco@winlink.org ) april 03  UPDATE:  Yep, The Rio Dulce, aka "The River That Swallows Gringos", has got us and we may be here forever at the rate we are going. After Tashi passed, we got a new Miniature Schnauzer -- Mandy – who is CAMRYKA'S Chief Security Officer Trainee. She hasn't had her sea trials yet, but so far she lifts our spirits and keep us laughing. She is typical Guatemalteca, taking siesta in the heat of the day and turning into a wild child at night. We have no clue where or even if we will be moving along. It’s too lovely here. jan 04 They have now uncrochted the boat from the Rio and pointed her towards Curacao. The route will depend on the weather; whether via Jamaica or the D.R. It's tough leaving a spot where you know all the players and most of the games, which market stall sells the best fresh spinach, and you have to convert US dollars to Guatemalan Quetzals to figure out how much something costs at a Walmart - but that's part of the excitement of the cruising life. Apr. 04 UPDATE: They had a helluva sail and had to make for the USA as they kept blowing out mainsails - their own plus a donated one from Sea Camp. Mandy earned her 'sea legs' on the trip. They are looking for a boatyard to make necessary repairs and then........ who knows? June 04

Les

Click me
I'm in Martinique having sailed here from Margarita. This is not a trip I recommend since it took me seven days, 750 miles every inch hard on the wind. I was single handed but the boat sails well to windward and I managed plenty of sleep. The rumb line is only 250 miles but the current and wind make life difficult. I plan to cruise north to the Saints in a few weeks and then to run to the south for the hurricane season. Probably Grenada and hope to find some bridge there. april 03 UPDATE: Les was trying to make the birthday concert in Trinidad. He had just finished a boat delivery; but he is still up island with his engine on the dock waiting for parts. Kramer

Les and Ann with Kramer, their pet parrot, are enjoying a leisurely visit in the South Pacific, spending much time being involved with the natives, partying with other cruisers and making repairs to Surrender.
UPDATE:
mar 03 From Majuro in the Marshall Islands: our plans now include hauling out here. We do not look forward to it. We will then cruise west through the Federated States of Micronesia with stops at the islands of Kosrae, Pohnpei, and Yap. We will get to see the huge stone money of Yap! Kramer by the way has fully recovered from his accidents and has long since had his recovery ice cream. He and his Army Reserve Vet made the newspaper here. UPDATE: After three weeks in the filthy yard, Surrender is afloat again. On the DOWN side, it was not cheap really. The lack of materials locally, lack of skilled labor and absence of local tools, made the success of completing 6 out of 7 major projects a Miracle.april 03 - Visit Surrender's NEW webpage ( http://www.ladycharli.com/surrender/ )
UPDATE: They have left Majuro in the Marshall Islands and are enjoying Kosrae. Thier loose plans are: Kosrae for the rest of Oct, Nov, maybe part of Dec. Pohnpei for Dec, Jan Yap for Feb into March, and then either to Palau, or straight on to the Philippines in March. nov o3
